Props to Rena &#8220;Rusty&#8221; Kanokogi.  <a title="Rusty Kanokogi &quot;Mother of Judo&quot; Dies" href="http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-me-rena-kanokogi24-2009nov24,0,7066573.story">Kanokogi was definitely a fighter.</a></p>
<blockquote><p>Kanokogi helped create the first Women&#8217;s World Judo Championships in 1980 in New York City, mortgaging her home to cover the costs. She coached the U.S. Olympic women&#8217;s judo team in Seoul in 1988.</p>
<p>She was born Rena Glickman in 1935 in Brooklyn, near Coney Island. She learned judo from someone in the neighborhood, but her attempts to compete in the city&#8217;s judo clubs were met with resistance.</p></blockquote>

<p>Alright. This is a well-written, informative article. Even advanced fighters and trainers will enjoy nuggets like this:</p>

Use circular movements for each punch to keep the bag going. For instance, when you practice jabbing, maintain your hand in a near-jab position and throw the jab in a circular motion.</p></blockquote>
<p>I am reminded of a video that shows super-trainer Freddie Roach working with a sharp-looking gal with a viscious right-hook. Roach runs down some techniques for using the speed-bag in a fight-training regimen.</p>
